Introduction: ‘To lease or not to lease, that is the question’

If you’re starting a law firm, deciding on office space is crucial. Do you want to work from home? At an office? Or do you want to consider a more creative option like a virtual office, space-sharing arrangement, co-working space or renting a conference room as needed? There are an ever-increasing number of workspace options available, so you can find something that works for you and your firm.

Your office space should reflect both your professional needs and your budget. To this end, one of the first decisions you will make is where you will be carrying on your business. Ask yourself whether you need a dedicated office in the traditional sense or whether other options may work for you – at least while you build your client base and potentially as a long-term solution.

In this module, you will learn about different office space options, including a home office, leased space and space-sharing arrangements.
