Overview: Current State of Mental Health in the Legal Profession

While legal professionals can experience various mental health challenges, the Study focused on measuring the prevalence of the key challenges common to the legal profession, including psychological distress, work-related burnout, anxiety symptoms and depressive symptoms. 

National prevalence rates in the Study include Ontario paralegals, Quebec Notaries and lawyer and articling student survey respondents from across Canada, and throughout the course these are referred to as “national survey respondents.” Alberta prevalence rates in the Study include Alberta lawyer and articling student respondents and throughout the course these are referred to as “Alberta survey respondents.”
