Types of Conflicts

Conflicts of interest may fall into the following categories:

  • Current client conflicts

    These are conflicts that arise when your client's legal interests are directly adverse to the immediate interests of another client.

  • Former client conflicts

    These are conflicts that arise if you are asked to act against a former client.

  • Lawyer-client conflicts

    These are conflicts where you have a personal or economic interest that conflicts with the client's interest, impacting your ability to provide unbiased counsel.
